Eternal optimism is not dead. I TOTALLY LIVE IN HOPE.

If you haven't yet seen the trailer for Naughty@40, the Bollywood 'remake' of The 40 Year Old Virgin, then here. Feast your eyes.

And here's a song promo:

Even as an obsessive Govinda fangirl...I have my doubts about the objective worth of this film. I will see it, if it ever gets released. OH I WILL SEE IT. But will it be any good? Govinda's recent track record has me worried.

But, I have to admit, this is intriguing.

"Vintage Govinda is back"? The "return" of the Govinda of the '90s?

Can I get a HELL YES?

In case you are unaware: '90s Govinda = FREAKING AWESOME. '90s Govinda looks like THIS:

and THIS:

The eternal optimist in me wants to believe that Naughty@40 won't suck/be extremely depressing/impossible to get through without cringing/crying/wincing. I want to believe that vintage Govinda can ride again.  THAT HE CAN RULE AGAIN.

YOU BETTER NOT BE LYING TO ME PUBLIC RELATIONS MACHINE.

  1. I think you'd be wise to focus your optimism on the songs. Dancing is still Govinda's forte, and one of the positive benefits of the song-story disconnect is that you enjoy excellent songs from bad films.

  2. Sigh...yes. That was the case with WORST MOVIE EVER Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. Omfg I hate that film, but I love the songs Rangeeli Raat and Ta Na Na.

  3. Is it really going to be 40-year old virgin territory? He looked pretty slick in those promos but maybe I was projecting...

  4. I actually genuinely don't think the film looks as bad as everyone else seems to think - like..the promo seems to have a kind of...melancholy aspect about it? And I feel REALLY sorry for the character when he goes "Yes, I can teach her, but someone needs to teach me". But then there's Shakti Kapoor and the whole Chichi in a bikini top bit and I wince a little.

  6. I LOVE 90s GOVINDA SO FREAKIN' MUCH. Buuut I must admit, that I'm not sure how it would resonate today.

I'm kind of afraid for this movie. I do plan on watching it, but I'm really really hoping it's not a total train wreck.
