It's Neetu Singh-A-Long Week this week, and though I am woefully unprepared, with my laptop ceasing to function at the eleventh hour, I DID just watch Yaadon Ki Baaraat on the weekend and Neetu's "Friendly Appearance" in the song Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is too awesome not to share.
This dance number was basically Neetu's second appearance as an adult in film - following her debut in the flop, Rikshawala - and her amazing screen presence, her gorgeous, vibrant energy and her superwow dance moves in her small amount of screen time in Yaadon Ki Baaraat garnered her so much attention that she was offered lead roles from then on (and went on to appear in a BUNCH of classic Hindi fillums as a spunky, feisty, ballsy woman).
Basically - Neetu is totally awesome, and it comes as NO SURPRISE that she is a whole lot of people's FAVOURITE filmi heroine.
It also comes as no great shock that for many Neetu fans, Rani Mukherjee is a natural successor to "the indefinable essence of Neetu-ness". Check her out, channelling Neetu in Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi:
